Kappa Kappa Gamma’s 69th Biennial Convention
Being "touched by the fleur-de-lis" may sound a little cheesy
and cliché, but it really is the only way to describe what went down this
summer at Kappa Kappa Gamma’s 69th Biennial Convention in
Jacksonville, FL. Upon arrival, the three (soon to be four) actives who made
the drive were struck by the sheer number of women, about 1,000 in total, all
there to experience the ultimate Kappa event. Of course, there were business meetings
and educational seminars which were the cake part of a lovely Kappa cupcake.
All four of us learned so much that we hope to bring back to the chapter, and
we made some great friends. Shout-out to Lexie Furphy and the Kappas at
UC-Santa Cruz! We were also able to catch up with Leadership Consultant Gracie,
as well as make a new friend, Fraternity President Julie Leshay!

The time spent at the Hyatt Regency was jam-packed. Mornings
were early and nights were late, but every moment was filled with all manner of
Kappa shenanigans. From the wonderful museum exhibit honoring Kappa’s past to
the Kappa Marketplace and Blue Owl Boutique where all of us bought enough Kappa
swag to last us at least a few months until we start cranking out t-shirts
again, Convention offered us all an opportunity to expand our Kappa network and
strengthen our passion for the incredible tradition that we hold so dear.

Epsilon Gamma was fortunate to receive the House Board Award
for a housed chapter, as well as an Honorable Mention for the Recruitment Award
on campuses with 10-14 Panhellenic chapters. As if these awards were not
enough, two members of our House Board and one member of our Advisory Board
were also in attendance in order to further educate the wonderful alumnae who
support our chapter.
Thanks to all seven women who represented Epsilon Gamma as well as the other EG alumnae we met throughout the week with their wonderful stories and memories!

Formal Held in the Blue Zone at UNC’s Kenan Stadium
This year’s sapphire ball was held on March 31 in the Upper Club of the Blue Zone at Kenan Stadium.
Our first ever Senior Cocktail hour preceded formal, giving graduating seniors a special event beforehand to reminiscence over their “dear Kappa days.” The event included a delicious dinner, followed by the long-standing tradition of an extremely-difficult-to-coordinate group photo, then music from a live band and dancing for the rest of the evening.
Social Chair Ashely Schaefer and Risk Management Chair Chelsea Earley were thrilled with the success of the event. It capped off a fantastic year for the sisters of Epsilon Gamma and will hopefully become a tradition for years to come.

Q for the Cause raises over $700 for Relay for Life!
On March 23, Εpsilon Gamma co-hosted the first ever Q for the Cause with Kappa Alpha Order on the Olde Campus Upper Quad.
Q for the Cause was a barbecue dinner benefiting UNC Relay for Life, featuring live entertainment from Eric and the Dimarzios, as well as campus a cappella acts, The Walk-ons and The Achordants.
After months of planning, the sisters saw their hard work pay off. The philanthropy committee coordinated location reservation, catering, entertainment, waste disposal, tables and chairs, and volunteers.
The dinner was coincidentally the same day as UNC's cultural celebration, Holi Moli, so a good percentage of the barbecue diners were covered in paint, adding extra color to the event. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather and delicious food, with all proceeds going to Relay for Life, a cause dear to many of the sisters. Q for the Cause is definitely going to be an annual event, so you won’t want to miss it next year!

If You're One of Us Then Roll With Us!
After one of ΕΓ's most successful spring recruitments, we were pleased to welcome 12 new members on Sunday.
This year's Bid Day, planned by New Member Chair, Nicole Bostock, took place at Wheels Fun Park in Durham, where sisters and new members roller skated, had dinner and spent time getting to know each other. Everyone was especially excited to watch our Tar Heels go head-to-head with Georgia Tech on the big screens at the roller rink.
Sisters had fun with the event's theme, decked out in 80's-style gear, including leg warmers, side-ponytails and an endless supply of neon accessories.
Everyone is looking forward to Chapter on Wednesday, when new members will be presented with Kappa's new member pin and formally welcomed to the chapter.
